Galbally’s Strictly Come Dancing.
The 12th of march has finally come upon us and has passed in flying colors for everyone involved with the GAA club. All the preparations and planning and sacrifices was all worth it in the end when you could see the results and outcomes of the night, it was fantastically executed, ran efficiently and the support was second to none.
An attendance of nearly 900 people where packed in with excitement in The Aherlow House Hotel to see the show of 16 couples and the interval act in which i myself was involved in and some of the successful U21 football team who won the A County Football Championship at the end of last year. The couples where all brilliant and everyone of them in there own right where winners. The actual winners on the night where Patrick Sweeney from local neighboring club Ballylanders and Aoife who is a local girl who is getting married to one of the main families in the GAA, the Cussens.
As the event was the clubs fundraiser for the year on the money side of things it was very important and the support was massive. Over €25,000 was raised which is all going to the clubs funds. Galbally showed how strong of a club it was with the organisation and the type of workers and bond we have as a club to prepare and run a fundraiser in the way we did. Hopefully next years fundraiser is as successful and its another enjoyable year for all..
Early year success for members of Galbally GAA
In the early stages of 2016, members of Galbally have already their hands cuffed on silverware. Members of our lady footballers who attend John The Baptist C.S Hospital contributed in large numbers yesterday the 7th or march for the senior ladies football team of JTBCS as they ran out winners in the post primary All Ireland senior ladies B football final. Galbally had 5 on the panel and the 5 girls started and had major roles within the team. Most of the girls are no stranger to success with some winning their second or 3rd All Ireland medal. The girls won the Munster earlier in the year and are a credit to the school, their families their selves and to our club and we are all extremely proud of them. They have a big future ahead of them.
Practice in Aherlow
with only 5 days to go till Galbally GAA’s Strictly Come Dancing, the dancers have started practicing and getting to know there surroundings in Aherlow House Hotel. it is ideal for all dancers to come and practice here as it is only a stone throw away from our own area as we are the same parish’s. Aherlow House Hotel has opened there doors with welcoming hands to support there neighboring club and sister parish. In the beautiful surroundings of the majestic Galtee Mountains Aherlow will host one of there biggest events of the year with an estimated attendance of 750 people. The venue is perfect for this event and will really make everything come to life with the scenes around our dancers.
The dancing is being held in the main ballroom in the hotel. This is where practice is commencing at this moment in time. The ballroom will hold the majority of the crowd on the night with televisions in the upstairs bar to accommodate people who cant make it below. There was a good turn out from the interval act dancers Sunday last. There will be a final dress rehearsal this Tuesday for every act in the event and a practice session will be done in the ballroom.
